Location : Pulau Sebatik, Tawau Division, Sabah, Malaysia.
Sebatik Island / Pulau Sebatik is an island off the eastern coast of Borneo. The northern part belongs to Sabah, Malaysia while the southern part belongs to North Kalimantan, Indonesia.
As we slowly got to know this Jack of all trades we got more amazed by his capabilities. He’s got more food to feed the whole island going by the livestock, fruits and the fish farms he had.
We were so lucky that Mr Chong operated a homestay although there was no tourism in Sebatik. His guests were mostly government officials.
His huge and hilly property provided us good hiking ground and a view of the island. We found the tour of his farms and the villages of Bajau, Tidung Dayak and Malay fascinating.
Touring around Sebatik
We were pleasantly surprised when Chong announced that there were proboscis monkeys in the island. A trip to watch them was in order. A boat was organized the next morning for the proboscis viewing. Next…..proboscis here we come.
