Balung River Eco Resort was our final exploration of Tawau and we were caught by darkness as we drove the long and winding road in search of its entrance. We had to stop several times to ask for directions. We called earlier to inform reception that we would be late for the check in. There were no street lights leading to the resort. All was quiet when we finally arrived. The landscape looked awesome, full of plants and flowers. Meantime, we had to call it a day and check out the place the next day.
By 6am the next morning we could hear the chirping of birds and the occasional loud squawking of hornbills which got us jumping out of the bed. Indeed there were several groups of noisy hornbills flying overhead and stopping at some of the trees. Some of them in pairs and some in fours. The squabbling mynahs made their presence felt too.
There were just too many beautiful plants to admire here. Very well maintained garden. 
Had our breakfast at the café before continuing to explore further.
