Location : Tawau Sankina Hotspring Park, Tawau Division, Sabah, Malaysia.
Tawau Sankina Hotspring Park is a recreational park that is suitable for all ages. There is a family water park, an Agarwood Tea Farm, Bakery shop and a private dinning lounge. (Facebook Page)
The last couple of years have seen a lot of publicity of new discoveries of hotsprings in Tawau. When we tried searching online for one, the name Sankina Hotspring Park came up.
Our GPS locator led us through narrow village roads. Not enough road signages to help us but we managed to arrive. However the car park was not accessible to visitors as heavy trucks were plying back and forth due to construction work going on somewhere inside the property. We parked our car on the main road before buying the RM10/pax ticket to enter the park.
The place looked deserted and I believed it was new. We had the pools to ourselves until much later when another small group joined us. Three of the shallow dipping pools were shaded with varying degree of hotness.
The pools were looked clean without the usual strong sulphur smell. We forgot to take off our silver bracelets and they turned black immediately.
There were quite a number of gazebos at the car park to cater for picnickers.
Ample toilets and changing rooms too. I wish there were private cubicles for guests who preferred hygiene and privacy.
Next…..Hiking to Bukit Gemok.
