Location : Dusun Segiring, Desa Pisak, Kecamatan Tujuh Belas, Kabupaten Bengkayang, Kalimantan Barat, Indonesia.
From Kecamatan Seluas (Nyobeng Sujah) to Kecamatan Tujuh Belas, 2 nyobengs in a day. After thanking our first host Pak Siah of Sujah village, we had to rush to Segiring village for our second nyobeng. The drive along very narrow tar sealed road was about an hour. Upon arriving we were invited into a house belonging to a friend of Ibun. Gawai homemade tidbits were served. Very nice and all made by the lady of the house. We waited for more than an hour before the VIP guest and his entourage arrived. He was the bupati or regent, Pak Suryadman Gidot.

A welcome dance led by Ibun was performed and all proceeded to the tiny baruk for the officiating of the skull bathing ritual.
Except for Ibun as a guest dancer, the village dancers were anything but traditional. The pomp of Gawai was pretty much lacking. The ritual was simplified with the skulls in 3 baskets splattered with tuak.

The baruk was quickly packed to the corridor and I decided to let Mei Er handle the coverage by herself while I took a stroll around the village before it got too dark.

Not far from the baruk I was watching about 10 kampung guys firing away with their home made shot guns. Black gun powder was shoved into the barrels and compacted with a long metal rod before each firing. Like in the wild wild west cowboy movies.
Everything was over in an hour.
