Location : Kampung Bunan Gega, Serian Division, Sarawak, Malaysia.
Through the years of passing by this village I never noticed the rice field or even if I did I never realized how huge it was until trip. The golden field was so captivating that I had to stop and drive into one of the gravel lanes just to try to see how far the rice field would go, at ground level. It was way too far to see where it ended. So I had to pull out my drone to check it out. Was totally amazed. It has to be the biggest in the Serian division.

We stopped by the farmhouse of Mr Joseph to have a little chat with his wife and watched his son in law threshing away in his Phua Chu Kang boots.

It was here that we learned how to use the harvesting knife and recognized the pests called ‘empengu’ responsible for creating ‘ampa’ or empty husks.

Harvesting is still very traditional unlike in Chupak where machines have replaced manual labour. From Bunan Gega we moved on to Mujat and Mongkos.
