Organising the transfer from Kampung Ayun to Kampung Sapitwas troublesome until the very last minute when we finally got confirmation from 2 van drivers from Kampung Assum and Parang. Luckily too the rain never came that morning although the boxes of books were wrapped in trash bags. The whole group waited at the Sapit river near Kampung Parang as our host Mr Begus organised the ‘ojeks’ or motorbike taxis. Multiple trips had to be made up to the 440m high village along narrow concrete path.
The ojeks of Sapit getting ready for the ascent
Thank God no untoward incident happened during those trips with the kids holding on well. There were a lot more kids here in Kampung Sapitcompared to Ayun. Right after lunch some enthusiastic kids started to gather at the village hall. While waiting for the unpacking and labeling, Mr Low Chee Leong made the concrete path his classroom to draw the kids away from the busy hall.
