Location : Petra Jaya, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.
Growing up here in Kuching I personally have seen the Sarawak State Library evolved from its early days at the Sarawak Museum, transiting at Jalan P. Ramlee, Civic Centre and finally settling at its current place in Petra Jaya overlooking a beautiful manmade lake.
In tandem with its physical beauty the quality facilities/services and the well mannered staff ever ready to cater to your queries are truly remarkable. It takes an incredibly good management team to come up to this standard. You will have to personally visit this library to be updated with its latest services.
If you are done with the books you may sweat it out jogging or joining in the aerobic class held most weekdays.

The outdoor gym /kids playground was nothing to shout about. Perhaps, this is one area the management needs to improve on. A proper toilet outside the building to replace the 2 portable cubicles would be most welcomed by the large crowd who come daily to exercise.

The terrain is mostly flat. The inner track around the lake is shorter but has a lot of sun to help you sweat plus a free dose of vitamin D. The longer outer track is shadier and closer to the main road. Besides, joggers will have to know that they are sharing the track with cyclists too. Ample parking space is available. Unfortunately, there is no changing room outside the library. It is a hassle having to go inside and follow the SOPs.

The in house café serves reasonably priced food here. The dabai fried rice is impressive!
