Location : Kota Sekadau, Kalimantan Barat, Indonesia.
Our Gawai chasing continued from Sanggau into nearby town of Sekadau about 2hrs drive away.
The first quarter of the drive was along a super narrow road running alongside the banks of the Kapuas river. It was a stressful drive as every bend and corner was like the ‘Cape of good hope’. It felt like crashing into an oncoming car could happen anytime. But thank God we made it through safely.
Finding Café Puncak Kapuas at the end of the narrow winding road was such a great relief. Had our lunch break here and good view of the mighty Kapuas river.
Despite arriving late for the opening of the Gawai, we managed to catch the singing and dancing actions for the rest of the afternoon.
The scale of celebration here was noticeably smaller compared to the other towns. We enjoyed the celebration nonetheless, making new friends with some friendly Dayak Desa members.
