Location : Kota Singkawang, Kalimantan Barat, Indonesia.
Singkawang is surrounded by mountains: Mount Poteng (660m), Mount Raya (920m), Mount Passi (780) and Mount Sari (280m).
This 2 and half hour motorbike journey from Bengkayang started on a very gloomy note and ended wet. Even then most part of the ride was quite fun with scenic views as we made our way up the mountain.
On the way to Singkawang

The first hotel we checked in was a big mistake, swiflet complex was a noisy nuisance. As we went looking for dinner we discovered this interesting motel called ‘Hotel Sentosa’. Here double bed means twin bed, single bed means double bed! The next morning we accidentally bumped into ojeks Apo & Nain and started haggling for a ride to Pasir Panjang, Rindu Alam and around the city all for RP100,000 each.
Pasir Panjang/Long Beach
Pasir Panjang is the main beach of Singkawang and can be easily reached within 20 minutes from the city centre. Visitors can enjoy a day trip or pause for a longer stay at the Beach Hotel. Restaurants and a large number of local food stalls are in close proximity, as are a rnage of sports, such as banana boat and flying fox rides.
