For years, friends have been telling me how great the sceneries of Keningau highland were. So, while returning to Kota Kinabalu from Lawas we decided to use the never tried alternative and longer route via the towns of Tenom, Keningau, Tambunan and Penampang. Seeing was believing! After passing the CIQ at Sindumin, we noticed quite a number of houses caught by the flood from five days of continuous rain in the region. Very odd for the month of July. Global warming? Anyway, the road was good and dry.

Flooding
Just after the Sipitang/Tenom junction, we came across a Lundayeh longhouse called Kampung Kaban, right next to the main road. It looked empty as most of them were busy at the church nearby. Liked its idea of using concrete stilts instead of belian wood. Good design, airy, clean and very sensible. Next…..Tenom
