Location : Tambunan Town, Tambunan District, Interior Division, Sabah, Malaysia.
When it comes to tourism, the town that got its name from cinnamon, Keningau is almost unheard of. In its heyday, it was an important town to the British North Borneo Company because of the spice cinnamon that was found here. The only reason I got to know of this town was because of Sarawak’s timber tycoon the late Tan Sri Wee Boon Ping who made his fortune here in the 80s and 90s. . Athough the town was not very big, traffic seemed heavy. Spending the night here was not a very wise idea. Nothing much to do around here except for the Batu Sumpah or Oath Stone. Mount Trusmadi offers a new destination for mountain climbers and is steadily gaining popularity.

We left early next morning for farming town Tambunan to see what there was to offer for the Visit Tambunan Year 2017. As expected the drive was breathtaking with the Crocker Range on the left and Trusmadi Range to the right.
At some point, we had to watch out for cows crossing the road. We managed to locate a homestay facing paddy fields but timing was not in our favour as the rice have just been harvested and in transition for a new season. We highly recommend Home Valley Guesthouse Tambunan, especially for families. Would be best to visit from November to February. Next……Mahua Waterfall.
