Location : Kota Pontianak, Kalimantan Barat, Indonesia.
This was our very first feel of Gawaiin Pontianakas we passed through this ‘Vampire City’ on our way to Palangka Raya. Had the whole morning to spare since our flight was in the afternoon. After breakfast, we went to this giant replica of a traditional Dayak longhouse named ‘Rumah Radakng’.

The belian preparation seen from the hall
As we arrived Rumah Radakng there was this preparation for a ‘belian’ ceremony for the following day. At the compound of Rumah Radakng was this group of Dayak Taman from Putussibau performing a ritual for the cage where the sacrificial cow would be kept. Belian is essentially a thanks giving ceremony for a successful healing of a sick person by a shaman in a village.
