Location : Lawas Town, Limbang Division, Sarawak, Malaysia.
So our Irau trip to Lawas finally came to an end after 4 days. If not for the persistent rain we could have done more. It was very surprising that such a small town could have so much to offer for tourism, even for Sarawakians.
Around Lawas Town

Kampung Awat-Awat

We had to skip the visit to super talented Bahar Saringan the Malay machete producer, Merarap Hotspring and the ever captivating Ba Kelalan highland. Next trip.
The future obviously looks promising for Lawas latest by 2019 when Brunei’s Muara-Temburong bridge is completed. It will surely draw more visitors from Miri and Bandar Seri Begawan as travelers will bypass Limbang and exiting from Labu instead, cutting driving time.

Although not much work is seen for the Pan Borneo highway in Sabah currently, eventually when that highway is completed, Sabah’s robust tourism could spill into Lawas as well. Prepare for the big boom Lawas folks! Here ends the story of our second Irau event in Borneo. Our very first was in Malinau North Kalimantan. We look forward to our third in Sabah.
