Location : Lapangan Terminal Sajingan Besar, Kabupaten Sambas, Kalimantan Barat, Indonesia.
Our last minute decision to participate in this event at Aruk was well worth the 2 hr drive as the event was so much better planned compared to the last one at Entikong, thanks to Pak Budi the event organiser. Including the Big Bikers surely provided a thunderous VROOM power to the celebration with more than a hundred of their mean machines to awe the villagers of Sambas. What was most surprising was to see our Minister of Tourism Datuk Amar Abang Jo leading the bikers in a Can-Am Spyder 3 wheeler. Awesome!
A total of 27 various organizations from Sarawak were invited to the event. The opening ceremony was performed by the Bupati of Sambas Bapak Atbah Romin Rohaili with the cutting of a bamboo pole.
Dance performances were presented throughout the day by the various communities of Sambas. Young dancers dressed in very creative costumes danced to lively and fast beat music. Indonesia’s traditional dances are never boring. We look forward to more events like this near the border and wish Pak Eddy Susilo of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and his team every success in their transborder tourism drive.
