Location : Dusun Tamong, Desa Tamong, Kecamatan Siding, Kabupaten Bengkayang, Kalimantan Barat, Indonesia.
Nyobeng Tamong is an annual traditional gawai harvest festival event. It was only after talking to the locals here in Tamong that we realized that the village was not celebrating the Nyobeng but rather the normal Gawai because of funding issues. Preparations for Nyobeng decorations, animals sacrifices, banners and food for invited guests do require quite a sum of money. That explained why there were no skull cleansing/feeding rituals and animal sacrifices.
Although it was just a normal Gawai celebration the district officer (Pak Camat) of Siding Pak Idal and his wife made the effort to attend and spend the night at Tamong. A charming and lovely couple who never fail to attend Gawai and Nyobeng celebrations in West Kalimantan. We must have crossed path more than a dozen times through the years.

Several of the ladies from Rambai were also present for the welcoming ceremony. They then proceeded to the little tanju next to the baruk for the usual dance with live gong music provided.

The compulsory tuak bottle was passed round. Later, visitors and friends went round the village doing their Gawai visits.
