Location : Dusun Sebujit, Desa Hli Buei, Kecamatan Siding, Kabupaten Bengkayang, Kalimantan Barat, Indonesia.
Our third and final day in Sebujit marked the end of our Gawai experience and for most of the members of our group it was their very first. Hopefully, an unforgettable one. As our friend Csaba from Hungary put it, “the event was like a National Geographic TV series”. Indeed, Nyobeng Sebujit has the material to be of that status and we have Pak Amin and his fellow villagers to thank for in preserving their ancestral culture. We pray we shall have many more years to attend such Bidayuh celebrations. Except for Bau, the Bidayuh Gawai in Sarawak is just an annual formality lacking any element of their old religion.
The morning sky was exceptionally blue as guests prepared for their departure. Some had left earlier the day before. Last minute group photo sessions and handing over of gifts, cash and kinds, to our hosts for their kind hospitality pretty much took up the morning.

I hope that in future Sebujit Gawai the new team of organizers will include a hike to their old village in the scenic flat top mountain of Sasig. Sitting on top of Sasig with Sebujit Atas is another village called Tamong. Both have very interesting looking baruks.

Well, the truck is waiting. Gotta go. Adios amigos.

Terima kasih Sebujit and all those in the Bengkayang Tourism office, especially Pak Beni and his team for working so hard. Link to our only trip to Sebujit Atas– https://bombasticborneo.com/2015/11/sebujit-lama-old-village-of-sebujit-siding-kalimantan-barat-indonesia/
