Location : Dusun Rambai, Desa Sahan, Kecamatan Seluas, Kabupaten Bengkayang, Kalimantan Barat, Indonesia.
Our Gawai coverage for 2019 kick off at Rambai’s Gawai Nyobeng. So far we have already covered Kambih, Tamong, Padang Pan, Sebujit, Sungkung Anep and Gumbang. Our longest Nyobeng loop that we have ever done so far.

Being our first trip to Rambai, we had to stop many times to ask for directions. At some point the road was so bad we thought we might have to turn back. But after asking oncoming motorists on the road condition ahead we secured a little more confidence to just go ahead.

We arrived in time for the opening of the celebration. The baruk/skull house was quite impressive although the tanju was a little too small for large scale dancing.

When we heard that there would be a skull cleansing ceremony and bamboo climbing the next day, we stayed for the night.
Thanks to Ketua Adat Mr Pawadi, a room was gotten ready at his house for us to pass the night.

We learned here that during the week long celebration of the Nyobeng the villagers were not allowed to fry their food. The only way to cook their food was by boiling.

Folks here were very friendly and many would approach us and told us that had worked in Sarawak at some points in their lives. Evening, we went to a nearby waterfall for a cool dip.
