Location : Kota Tanjung Selor, Kabupaten Bulungan, Kalimantan Utara, Indonesia.
When we were at the event venue some of the locals recommended that we visited the museum, obviously a tourist attraction. Took us quite a while locating it near the Kayan River but little did we know that it was actually the palace of the former sultans as well as the private residence of the Pemangku (acting) Sultan of Bulungan with his personal collection of many precious looking artifacts.

We apologized to the current owner Datu Abdul Hamid for our uninvited appearance but he was such a nice chap and welcomed us into his house to admire his belongings. He was always smiling. We chatted with him for a bit before exchanging our telephone numbers. For more info on the history of the Bulungan Sultanate, here is the Wikipedia link: https://en.wikipedia.org/

Before we parted, he insisted we visited Gunung Putih (White Hill). We did. A limestone hill with very colourful stairs. Quite a bit of trekking can be done here besides exploring the cave. We did not have time to do both. Thanks anyway to Datu Abdul Hamid for the hospitality.
