Location : Sungai Buah, Santubong, Kuching Division, Sarawak, Malaysia.
Sungai Buah with a very rich history of one of the earliest Chinese settlements in Sarawak, lies along the mountain range of Sejinjang which separates it from Pasir Pandak / Panjang. Kapitan Liaw a retired headmaster is one of the handful owners of durian farms found on the inland side of Sejinjang. On my second visit in less than a week we decided to trek up to the second highest peak of this mountain. But as we were about to reach the peak we were halted by thick undergrowth. Forgetting to bring along a parang was a regrettable mistake.

Oh well, next time. A good reason to come back again. By the way, we had our durian breakfast before 8am.

HI,
I’m very interested in coming to film at a Durian orchard near Kuching on the 30th of May with a BBC crew for a children’s television programme. Would you recommend Mr. Liaws farm for such a proposal? Feel free to recommend one!
Best wishes,
Ewan Evans
Hi Ewan, Do bear in mind that the durian season will not happen in May as far as Sarawak is concerned. It usually happens in December. Yes, personally I think Mr Liaw’s farm is great for shooting and so are his neighbours who are mostly related to him. He and his wife do not stay at the farm. Prior arrangement must be made before going there. Do let us know two or three days before driving over so we can call him about your coming.
Hi.
I would like to ask, where to buy this type of durian (Sungai Buah, Santubong) in Kuching area?
Hi.
Where can I buy Sungai Buah Durian in Kuching? Can it be bought in the market or somewhere else?
Hi Hannobal, you have to drive to the farm and buy from the owners directly. They dont sell it in Kuching or anywhere else, not even by the roadside near Sungai Buah.
