Location : Radau Longhouse, Ulu Undop, Sri Aman Division, Sarawak, Malaysia.

Radau longhouse was the last gawai stop of our second day here in Ulu Undop and it was the best. Reason-it had a cute waterfall with an awesome natural 50m long slide. Thanks to Baring an uncle of Siti for insisting we visited Radau Fall just 15min trek away from the longhouse. Tuai Rumah Sigan and his wife kindly offered to guide us there. Cool clean water is still available in this mountainous area despite the invasion of oil palms.

After the refreshing dip we proceeded back to the longhouse to continue with our gawai indulgence.

This was when we bumped into Tawan a fine looking young Iban guy with more facial hair than any other Ibans we met. When I enquired if there was going to be any cock fighting, as it is part and parcel of the gawai celebration, he answered in the negative but was quick to invite me to inspect his team of game fowls. I could not help but agree they were indeed very impressive. Too bad, sooner or later those beautiful and pricey birds will have their fates determined at the cockpit. I learned that the best way to make quick friends with Ibans was to bring up the subject of cock fighting. While we were busy with Tawan we didn’t realised that Siti and her brother Jabu had already left us. Finding our way back to Paku Undop with all the oil palm estate roads was like playing a game of maze! We must have lost our way thrice.
