Location : Lake Bera, Bera, Pahang, Malaysia.
Putting up in Triang Pahang for a week for the Chinese New Year celebration without paying a visit to Lake Bera (measuring 35km by 25km) would have been impolite to its status as Malaysia’s first ever Ramsar Site, an international recognition of wetland parks. It was a frustrating job trying to call the park management from the phone numbers given on the posters stuck on many coffee shops in Triang as well as from the internet. None of the numbers worked. Left with no choice and not giving up, me, Mei Er & her family decided to drive there 45mins away.
Upon reaching Tasik Bera Resort we were shown several choices of room, RM90, RM110, RM140. Decided on the one and only RM140 chalet with a spacious lounge & a balcony with a spectacular view.
The flood in Pahang which started 4 days earlier submerged parts of all 2 trails available at this resort. Park guide Mr Ari had to cancel all trekking activities. Maybe we should have tried the other alternative homestays at Fort Iskandar and Kpg. Jelawat. Talk about bad timing!
Not to be disappointed we searched for the trail head and decided to sneak inside for a bit, must have picked this up from my trekking buddy Jay. Spent 45 minutes desperately looking for a way round the flooded trail but each detour brought us to more frustrations. With the failing light & under leech attack we gave up, defeated by murky waters.
We found consolation the next morning with the lake tour which included the fish nursery, pitcher plant spot and a visit to Kpg . Pathir an Orang Asli village, all for a fee of RM50. I still feel a visit to Lake Bera is incomplete without an overnight stay with an Orang Asli family. Maybe I should do that next Chinese New Year holiday.

Hi, may i know.. at Tasik Bera. where can we stay?
Thank you
Hi Winnie, we have just uploaded new photos of the telephone numbers of the resort as well as the room type/price. There is also a homestay which has an Orang Asli museum nearby we but we did not try and this is at another part of the lake with a different route to it.
