After the second and final day session (Community Service @ Iban longhouse) was done with we packed and drove to Kapit town for a coffee treat from Mr Lai to show his appreciation. Good job guys. After which he invited us to his home where he had his collection of wild boars, fawn, hunting dogs, medicinal herbs, hunting equipment and trophies of wild games.

But fortunately he confided in me he had given up his hunting life which had provided a big source of income for his family. A painful decision but he had no choice after too many warnings from the devas of the jungle which came in his dreams. He submitted after too many ‘incidences’ but I’m happy for him. He is currently working as a timber camp manager. I know I’ll be seeing more of this interesting character, as I was compiling these photos I received a call from him. He said the villagers wanted more of the Magic Bamboo treatment, oh yeah? What a shock. (Also please check out our Chinese New Year trip in Kapit)
